Make no mistake they are the bosses, and I am the servant.

If extraterrestials were to look down upon this planet and watch the humans being walked along by our french bulldogs, to bend down to pick up poop, to shop for their food, to feed them, and look over them, to bath them and yes to dress them and wheel them around in doggie carriages, they would certainly understand what I mean!

I live in Gulfport, Florida and have two litters of french bulldog puppies right now. Juliette and Josephine decided to do this as a joint project. It has worked out well, as Juliette had a litter of one female creme, while Josephine had a litter of four.

As Juliette looked longingly from her whelping pen next door to Josephine's brood of four, it was obvious that she felt cheated and wanted another puppy. Josephine looked overworked. I had an idea.

I took the male from Josephine's litter at about a week of age, when Babette, the one creme girl from Juliette's litter (yes, yes she has a name, that means I am keeping her, I know I can't keep all of them, but I will try), was 18 days old, and put him in with Juliette and Babette. Juliette began to clean him immediately, Josephine seemed relieved and Babette now has the interaction of a brother. This has been going on for one week, and I am certain the idea was a good one, as all seems well in the neo natal ward in the my bedroom.

I have bred English bulldogs in the past, back in New York and now in the heat of Florida, and living in a flood zone and hurricane prone area, in Zone A (first to be evacuated) I moved to a smaller more manageable breed. These two litters are my second and third litters. I plan to have more litters, and Beatrice and Babette will also be bred when they are of the right age.

I am loving the interaction, the work, the worry, the playfulness, the caring and all the other things that go along with a new litter, and I think it is my unfulfilled dream of becoming a veterinarian.

When I was much younger, and I am saying much younger, 50 years ago when I was two, I fell in love with two English bulldogs who lived on the corner of my block in Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. This was much to my mom's dismay as she was petrified of dogs as she had been attacked as a young girl.

This being said, for me to have expressed to her in 1960 that I intended to be a veterinarian, this was not well accepted, and I ended up becoming a legal secretary and thereafter a police officer.

I am now a college instructor and a private investigator, but the spirits of those first two bulldogs still call to me and awaken the unfulfilled dream of being a vet but without the motivation to go back again to school, and quite frankly I am not sure that I would be able to operate on the dogs and cats.

A lifetime later, a master's degree and one half later, here I am at ag 52 doting over my french bulldog puppies.

I wanted to create this blog for people to be able to come, to tell their stories of French bulldogs, to share experiences about raising them, caring for them, living with them, and connecting on a level of dog servant to dog servant.

This is a site where lovers of these furry little critters can come to brag!
